The Penitent Thief
(Luke 23:32-43) As we continue our Unique to Luke series, looking at the neighbours and outsiders that Luke highlights in his Gospel, Iain brings us to two criminals crucified on either side of Jesus. Both men are looking at the same Jesus. Both are facing the same moment of disconnect: this is not what I expected from the Messiah. And yet their responses could not be more different. How often do we find that the Jesus we imagine doesn't match up with the Jesus we experience?
