Who
We Are
Core
Values
Here at Alice Springs Baptist
Church we are a community of very diverse individuals and families. We
all have slightly different values, passions and giftings when it comes
to serving Christ. Yet there are certain common values that unify our
efforts and define our distinctiveness as a Church community. Therefore
we hold on to the following values:
- That people are transformed
by the Holy Spirit through the power of God’s Word (2 Tim 3:16, Rom
1:16)
- Lost people matter to God
and therefore ought to matter to us (Luke 15)
- We must be culturally relevant
whilst remaining doctrinally pure (1 Cor 9:19-23)
- Church is about helping
people live the Christian life with authenticity and freedom (Rom 12,
Jam 1:22-27)
- The Church should function
as a unified community of servants with men and women, of all ages and
backgrounds, using their spiritual gifts
(1 Pet 4:10-11, Gal 3:28)
- Spiritual growth and Christian
community happen best in small groups (Acts 2:42-47, Luke 6:12-13)
- Excellence honours God and
inspires people (Mat 5:41, Jer 12:5)
The Church should be a place of love, acceptance and forgiveness
(1 Cor13, Eph 4:32-5:2)
- Full devotion to Christ
and His purposes is normal for every believer (Mat 28:19-20, Eph 4:15)
- Christ gives servant leaders
as a gift to His Body with a view to every person being equipped to
take responsibility for the spiritual health and governance of the Church
(Eph 4:11-13, 1 Pet 2:5-10, 5:1-4)
All we do as an expression
of the purposes God has given us, we endeavour to do while living out
these values both individually and as a community.
