MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) is a ministry coordinated by mums for mums. It is an international organisation that originated in the United States and there are over 100 groups within Australia. It provides a supportive environment for mothers who have babies or preschoolers. During the two hour period, mothers have a chance to meet other mums over coffee and morning tea. This is usually followed by a guest speaker who speaks on a topic relevant to mothers such as relationships, speech therapy for kids and children's diet. This is followed by a craft activity. The children (MOPPETTS) are cared for by volunteers and are involved in their own Christian program. MOPS also has a collection of library books covering a range of topics that are of interest to mums. You are welcome to borrow books from the collection if you are a resident of Alice Springs. MOPS meets every second Tuesday morning from 9 to 11 am and all mothers of preschoolers are welcome, regardless of whether they attend Church or not . The cost is $3 to cover morning tea and the craft activity. Temporarily, we are meeting at the Christian Community Centre on Undoolya Road. Every alternate Tuesday, smaller playgroups meet in various homes, enabling close friendships to be established amongst smaller groups of Mum. For more information regarding MOPS, please contact the Church Office. Alternatively, go to MOPS Australia Inc or MOPS International.
